This is the long awaited LP by the most spoiled boys from Gijón.
One of the youngest bands with a wider international projection of the Spanish general view that have got in your minds, we surrender to “Chandal”, their first album. Most of you should know them after the single Subterfuge Records released back in 93. It includes four songs, eating all Teenage Fanclub, The Byrds and Dinosaur Jr. Painful melodies, corrosive feedback and guitar riffs for the judgement day.
And now, in Elefant, a not impassive-after-listening to album. Rafa’s voice is more melodic and deeper than ever, guitars dominate much more and combine speed noise licks with acoustic and calmed rhythms. Songs like “Flowerskin”, “Orgasmo” do nothing but recreate devastating landscapes. Full vegetation, dense and impenetrable, alienated. Songs paying tribute as much to Neil Young as to J. Mascis, keeping their faith all the time to their idiosincracy.
Really closed to the skate/hardcore Asturias scene, these boys wake up passions: their charisma, the charm in their songs... place them as a great promise in a big present.
Some will see in their songs punk remains, others will identify them with the noise scene, some others with fuzz-pop. Forget about labels, they’ve done it.
