The Los Angeles by way of Toronto based band BadBadNotGood has been been a go-to for hip-hop legends and upstarts who are in search of live instrumentation and are now prepping their own LP. Dropping in July, IV is set to feature Mick Jenkins, Kaytranada and more.
In the past year, the band has teamed up with Ghostface Killah for Sour Soul, served as Earl Sweatshirt’s backing band on Jimmy Kimmel Live, dropped a single with Little Simz and tapped Jenkins their own spin on TheSenseiBlue’s “On the Map”
Jenkins’ is also dropping his album, The Healing Component, soon and said recently the he’s done recording for the project. The Chicago rapper spoke with Exclaim about what we can expect from the album. “The Healing Component itself is love, brotherly love. Agape. In its purest form what Christ was able to show us, right? And a lot of the world’s problems could be solved with love. That sounds like a really cheesy simple answer — and it’s never that simple — but that’s what I intend to explain on that album and Wave[s] coming right before that. Not only was I inspired by actual love, but I just felt it necessary to get that in there somewhere, have people wonder why I’m talking about it and when The Healing Component comes out, watch it come full circle.”
