This was the initial CD from the Arbors label, an organization that soon grew to become one of the top Dixieland and mainstream-oriented record companies of the 1990s. The label was started originally to the playing of Rick Fay (who triples on tenor, clarinet and soprano), and he would be the leader on its first four releases. For this set, Fay is teamed with four obscure players: cornetist David Jones, trombonist George Palmer, Bob Leary on guitar and banjo, and sousaphonist Lee Richardson. Drummer Pat Doyle sits in on two of the 14 numbers. The music is no-nonsense Dixieland, with vocals on six of the tunes by either Fay or Leary, and highlights including "China Boy," "Mamma's Gone, Goodbye," "and "Tipperary."
