专辑介绍

After the interesting debut self-titled album two years ago, Yukla Down are back with a splendid album in which shoegaze intersects wonderfully with particles of post rock.

Ten songs for almost 46 minutes for the Tokyo band that confirms how much the Japanese Shoegaze scene is in great shape: references to the late 80s, hints of Dreampop and Sarah Records fill their second work with an outstanding beauty.

Often the rhythms are fast with magnetic and sensual guitars.

Dépaysement is a magical, suspended song, full of delicacy where their desire to break the rhythm with a modern and effective post rock, short but intense in its poignant melancholy is evident.

In Borealis everything is clear: the development of the band is obvious because it is not only a record of swirling guitars, but also able to create atmospheres that intrigue us, interesting connections that look towards other directions.

My favourite swirls are Mirror Lake and Torture me ( with your kiss ).

Mirror Lake: the 90s in which shoegaze and Dreampop often embraced each other happily with a wink to post rock. Here it’s England that shows up in an evident way and the atmosphere is that of a great liberating flight.

Torture me ( with your kiss ) is the synthesis of their stylistic research perfectly demonstrated.

An album that really represents the strength of a Japan that is not so far from the USA, that still remains at the moment the most vital and creative. But the band from Tokyo is reducing the gap with its style which is the most valid and rich element.
